Alvarez gave Argentina the lead in the 49th minute with a goal, and Martinez, who entered the game as a replacement, completed the scoring in the 88th minute with a goal after receiving a feed from Messi.

 

 

Argentina, the defending champions, defeated Canada 2-0 to begin their Copa America campaign in Atlanta. In order to seal the victory, Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez scored significant goals in the second half.

Canada successfully exerted pressure and generated a few chances in the first half, while Argentina nearly scored through Angel di Maria, who squandered a clear chance following a powerful run from midfield.

Early in the second half, Argentina broke the deadlock when Lionel Messi found Alexis Mac Allister with a superb pass. Maxime Crepeau was advancing when Mac Allister deftly pushed the ball past him, setting up Alvarez for a simple finish.

Argentina’s defense stabilized with the arrival of veteran center-back Nicolas Otamendi, despite Canada’s attempts to equalize. At minute 88, With a goal from a Messi assist, substitute Martinez completed the win, giving their Copa America campaign a strong start.
